Danielle Ward

Danielle is a senior this year at Holt High School. She is greatly involved in hockey and has been playing for the past 9 years. To some of you new to Holt this year, may have thought Danielle was a new student. But instead of going to Holt, she spent the first semester of her senior year living with a family in Akron, Ohio, to play for a team called the Ohio Flames. While in Ohio, Danielle went to Green High School, where she tried out for the bowling and made the team. She returned to Holt for her last high school semester.

Danielle got involved in hockey after watching her older brother play. After watching, she decided to join. She says her favorite thing about it is the intensity of it and the overall closeness of the team. She told us she believes that the closeness with her team mates on a hockey team is closer than any other team she has been a part of.

Other than playing for the Ohio Flames, Danielle has played center for the Lansing Pride U19 AAA team for four years. Some of Danielle’s major accomplishments in hockey include making the Prospects Tournament three years in a row, and having the most points scored every year she played for the Pride. The Prospects Tournament is a tournament that the best players from the US and Canada get invited to go to.

Other than playing hockey, some of her favorite things to do for fun are golfing, going to the Y, boating, and snowboarding. She is also on the girls Varsity Golf Team for Holt.

Danielle’s favorite thing about high school is being able to be around her friends for 7 hours every day, but she hates having to wake up so early. Her class schedule includes Ceramics, Psychology, Writing Explorations, Zoology, Economics, and Teacher Assistant for Weight Training. Her favorite class is psychology, and her hardest and least favorite is Economics. “It sounds like another language to me”, she says.

After graduating from high school, Danielle plans on moving to Rochester, New York and go to a community college there. She would continue to play hockey there for a year and then play Division III Hockey in New York the year after that.
